Finding a personal oasis in the middle of a desert

Source: In These Times by Bee Johnson

I recently came across a LinkedIn post by Izzy, a young professional who shared her unique perspective on balancing work and personal life. She stated that she "doesn't work hard" and that 80% of people would consider her extremely lazy if they knew her daily routine.

Izzy's post really got me thinking, is taking a break on weekends or not posting daily on social media considered lazy nowadays? I personally don't think so. It's all about finding balance in our lives, and I couldn't agree more with her statement that she's still achieving her goals, pursuing a career she loves, and doing okay.

As a researcher and innovator, I can confidently say that I live in a fast-paced and demanding field. So, in my spare time, you'll find me chasing the latest trends like a boss. But, let's face it, even bosses require a break. This is where hobbies comes into play. To me, volunteering is like a break from my normal routine, and it allows me to give back to the community I live in, no matter where that might be. It's also a great way to meet new people and learn new things. Having lived abroad almost 8 years, having an activity like this one helps me to stay grounded, find my true passion and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

In what ways do you make time for your passions and hobbies while balancing work and personal life?
